Reading at home is a crucial part of reading development. So, what can parents do to encourage good reading habits?
- Make read alouds a bedtime ritual.
- Encourage students to respond to the things they're reading...Think Marks are a great way to focus on thinking while reading.
- Find FABULOUS words with your child while you're reading.
- Model good reading habits.
- Use literacy as a tool during daily family life (i.e. reading recipes or instructions, writing notes or shopping lists).
