My Philosophy of Education
Building self-confidence and good character is my first priority as a classroom teacher. I believe strongly in providing an open and caring atmosphere, along with appropriate structure, within which my students actively participate and feel free to explore through authentic learning opportunities. Beyond proficiency in the areas of literacy, numeracy, and technology, it is important that we as teachers help build well-rounded human beings.
Our mission as educators is to help students to discover and develop their potential at the highest level possible; making them conscious about the challenges they will face daily and encouraging them to contribute creative solutions to tackle the problems that they will face locally and in a worldwide milieu.
It is our responsibility to prepare students for a competitive world, yet at the same time we must teach them to work efficiently in teams and also to be respectful of other ways of thinking.
Additionally, an educator must work towards encouraging students to be independent thinkers capable of analyzing and evaluating any content and applying that knowledge to novel situations.
Finally, it is very essential to our profession that we work with students to instill in them tolerance, respect, and compassion for people in any condition.
