The ESL program is designed to provide a comfortable environment where students who are not yet fluent in English may acquire the language skills necessary to be successful in the regular classroom in all academic areas. ESL students usually attend all special classes such as art, music and P.E. with their classmates and attend ESL classes at various times through the rest of the day. The amount of time spent in the ESL classes depends on the needs of the individual student. Beginning ESL students attend three periods of ESL a day for a total of 15 classes a week. Intermediate ESL students attend two periods a day for a total of 10 periods a week. Advanced ESL students attend one period a day for a total of 5 periods a week. |
