KG Curriculum
The theme of the KG curriculum is "I Live in Egypt". It is designed
to acquaint the children with some of the aspects of life in Egypt: its monuments,
language, customs and traditions.
I. Ancient Egypt
In this unit children will learn about ancient Egyptians. They will learn
new words such as pharaoh, monument, sphinx, ancient, etc...
Books, filmstrips and video cassettes will be used to enhance more understanding
of the different items.
II. Contemporary Egypt
Children will learn about different people living in
Egypt such as farmers, bedouins and city dwellers. They will also gain basic
information about the Nile river, the palm tree, the desert and the red sea.
III.Games and Songs
Children will learn some of the most famous songs and games that have a cultural
meaning. Songs referring to special occasions will be introduced as such occasions
come during the school year.
IV. Language
We will be learning some of the daily used words, such as good morning, what's
your name? How are you? We will also know how to count in Arabic, and how to
write our first name in Arabic.
V. Special Occasions
An explanation of all social and religious occasions as they come through
the year, will be given to help children understand what they see around them.
