Recycled Sculpture In my sculpture class we have created creatures made out of recycled sculptures. We collected and brought products from our house or things we have used and not thrown away. In other words, junk! I used a water bottle as my base and then I used hot glue guns to glue on all the parts. I brought batteries, glasses, and other small supplies to use. I also took my old CD player and broke it apart to find very small interesting items. Mr. G provided me with some supplies too, such as feathers. If I were to do this project again, my goal would be to make it look more interesting and not using a water bottle as a base. References- Website for Reno: Graphic Artist and Animator |

Self-Portrait During my sculpture class, I have created a self-portrait head of myself. We started out with a lump of clay and then used the technique of pushing and pulling. We were provided with tools to help us. We spent a few classes working on it, but I went through a few difficulties along the way. One part of the process was cutting your head in half to let all the air bubbles out, and when it was time to put it back together I had problems slipping my clay. As a result, it split in half while it was being fired. Another difficulty that occurred was that the cats had knocked over a few sculpture heads when they were drying outside, and my nose on my head broke off. My teacher helped me fix this problem by applying plaster as a nose instead. The negative outcome from that was the my nosee looked A LOT bigger! A goal for the next time I work on something similar to this, is making it seem more accurate and realistic. References- Michael Brenner (Objects in Atmosphere), Elizabeth Caddy (Sculpting Heads) |
