Junk Art Creating this piece was quite difficult. All the materials used in this sculpture work were all from recycled objects, and household items. On the first day of this art project we began collecting unused household items, or anything else that could be recycled and used for this piece. I first began with a large water bottle, and used that as the center of the art piece. I then got a regular floppy disc, and removed the sliding metal piece from it so it can be used as a door. Subsequently, I cut out an average sized hole into my water bottle on the side, and then glued the metal piece from the floppy disk onto the hole, creating sliding doors. I created these sliding doors, so I could give the effect of a technological spacecraft. To create the seats of my spacecraft, I took the chair out of an old toy car, and then glued it inside the "space craft". I then took some other parts from some unused toys, and created a "control center" inside the ship using a small plastic computer. When the inside of my bottle was finished, I began to then work on the outside of it, and tried to think of a way that it will move. After a while of searching through pictures, through books, and trying to relate my "ship" to an animal, I saw a picture of a shark. So from there I decided to make it an aquatic mobile. At the back of y ship, I took a bent metal piece from a clothes hanger, and then added some things to it, so that it would be the propeller of the ship. Then soon after I began adding touchups to the ship, and then ended up with my final art piece. |

This is a close up of my art peice. Shortly after we finished this project, our class received the Enviromental award for recycling, junk and re-using it. For a matter of fact, i would say about 70% of my arts materials was found lying around, such as the waterbottles, which i found in the Feild. And instead of throwing it away, i reused it to create my art peice.

Sculpting my Portrait During my sculpture class, I have created a 3d self-portrait using clay. We first began by collecting and then wedging the clay to remove all air bubbles. Then from my ball of clay, I began to pull out the features of my face, from the clay instead of adding it on. This was very difficult for me because I have curly hair, so it was a challenge for me to create the curls and waves, and make it look realistic. Then when I was finished with my sculptures features, I hallowed him out, by cutting it in half. After clearing out the insides using a sculpting tool, I realized that I had taken out too much, and that my sculpture now had such a thin layer of clay, so I began to re-add clay to it, in order to thicken the insides. Afterwards I slipped the sides of my head back together, and then formed a neck for my head to rest on. When the slip had dried, I took out my figure to be fired, and when it was taken out, it had been successfully fired, and there was no damage to the figure because, before we fired it, we created routs for the air bubbles to get out of so there are no cracks or explosions in our work form the air bubbles.
