1st stop Johannesburg

Johannesburg is the financial, economic and cultural giant of South Africa - and by implication the entire African continent. To put things in perspective, Jo 'burg (or Jozi as often called) is the capital of Gauteng, South Africa's smallest province. We didn't spend much time here but we did see how it looked. As soon as we landed here we left for Drakensberg Mountains

2nd stop Drakensberg Mountains

The Drakensberg mountain range is situated along southeast coast of South Africa. These spectacular Drakensberg Mountains are a challenge for adventure seekers and a heaven for wildlife lovers. Extending from northeast to southwest for around 1,125 km, the Drakensberg is part of the Great Escarpment and the main watershed of South Africa. We were here for 2 nights were we did a hike and visited a nearby game park.

3rd

With an early morning departure we drive (about 3 hours) from Giants Castle to Howick to visit a rural village Mopopomeni (15km from Howick) where a guided tour takes us to the Shembe Church and traditional healers. We are invited for an African style lunch in the Township. We then head out to the adventure village where we can do kayaking in double sit-on kayaks on the Albert Falls Dam. There are other activities we could also look at as well abseiling/climbing on an artificial wall, raft building and obstacle course.

4th Durban

Durban is the second most populous city in South Africa, forming part of the eThekwini metropolitan municipality. It is the largest city in KwaZulu-Natal and is famous as the busiest port in Africa. It is also a major center of tourism due to the city's warm subtropical climate and beaches. We never really saw durban but we were at there airport for about 4 hours.

5th Cape Town

Warmed by the African sun, the city is dominated by a towering, table-shaped mountain, set on a peninsula of soaring, rocky heights and lush valleys, where two oceans converge- Indian and Atlantic. Immense natural beauty, and the fast pace and bright lights of a great urban center meld effortlessly here. Firmly positioned on the international map, Cape Town offers a myriad things to do and places to see, whatever your tastes, inclinations or budget.
