PEACE BEGINS WITH

YOU AND ME..

OUR PEACE SONG

Peace Chain

by Gwen Willson and Rebecca Nerenhausen

  Verse 1

Peace begins with you and me,

peace begins with you and me.

In our world of CAC

we begin to make the world what

it should be.

One and one and one make three;

and three can make a chain, you see.

Three can make the peace chain

long and strong,

Linking hands in harmony,

as we sing

Chorus

Peace, peace, don't let go,

don't let fear and hatred grow.

Peace, peace, hold on tight:

the peace chain at CAC

Verse 2

Add another hand, that's four,

and four can make the peace chain more.

Here at school we'll show to the world that

peace can open the door.

Linking up the world in peace;

let greed and poverty cease.

And we will do our part to sing from the

heart and make the leaders listen please;

As we sing

Chorus

Peace, peace, don't let go,

don't let fear and hatred grow.

Peace, peace, hold on tight:

the peace chain at CAC.

PEACE COOKIES - the recipe

1/2 c. butter; to smooth old wounds between nations.

1 c. brown sugar; like the good earth we need to preserve.

1 egg; from which life is given, the same all over the world.

1 t. vanilla; some of us are vanilla

  1 1/4 c. oats; harvested in August, the month Hiroshima is remembered with sorrow.

1/2 c. sesame seeds; for the many seeds of good will that can blossom into world peace.

3/4 c. raisins; grapes dried in the sun.

After a nuclear war, could be a nuclear winter with no sun for years.

1 1/4 c. flour; wheat sheaves tied, as nations united by strings of hope for peace.

1/2 t. salt and 1/2 t. soda; season your lives with kindness.

1 t. cinnamon; spice up your life by working for peace.

3/4 c. chocolate chips; some of us are chocolate. We need all colors.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen.

The Peace Cookies Recipe is for Peace for Earth

KGD's own version of Peace Cookies

½ c. butter : smooth like the clouds, to smooth the bruises of the Earth,

Countries are fighting and butter is to make it all better

1 c. brown sugar: is like sand, dirt, dust and looks like mud

1 egg: is to start all over again, the chick gets big then it starts all over again

1 tsp. Vanilla: some of us are vanilla

1 ¼ c. oats: kind of looks like our skin, have it for breakfast

½ c. sesame seeds : tiny seed that can grow

¾ c. raisins: sun and sweet

1 ¼ c. flour: so everyone can eat

½ tsp. salt and ½ tsp. baking soda: for a little taste/flavor

1 tsp. cinnamon: some of us have darker skin

¾ c. chocolate chips : some of us are dark and chocolates makes us happy!

We mix it all together and then we took a piece of dough and made it flat so it would not have any broken parts. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes.
