Quarter 1 We will begin this year off by reviewing and reinforcing student data collection skills. We will be reinforcing the concept of using a methodical approach to studying a problem (Scientific method), and using the metric system with our observations. We have the unique opportunity to be caretakers of an endangered species, the Egyptian tortoise. We will be using our measurement skills to study this species and publish our findings on the internet. Additionally the tortoises will give us a venue to learn more about desert ecosystems and the impact man has on such fragile environments. In preparation for the week long fieldtrip in the Sinai Desert, we will begin a study of landforms and geology, then the different types of rocks that we will be able to observe first hand in the Sinai. |
