Cairo American College
Eighth Grade Science Program

A view from a wadi in the Sinai

The eighth grade science department's philosophy to the science program is:

"Students learn best by actively exploring and seeking answers to their questions. Experiential learning is a vital component of the curriculum, which will allow students to apply their knowledge in real life situations. Every effort will be made to allow students to connect theories learned in class to natural phenomena. This can best be accomplished by hands on activities, field studies, individual research, and experimentation.

Our teaching will foster a positive attitude toward the environment thereby establishing a sound environmental ethic in our students. Students will be challenged to make responsible decisions concerning fundamental issues of our time. Students will be encouraged and expected to become activists with regard to the ecology of our planet as a whole and Egypt in particular."
