Medications in school

At the beginning of each school year, the parent may give permission to the school nurse to administer standard over the counter ( in the U.S.) medication to the student in the event of mild illness such as headache, low grade fever (under 100 degrees F/ 37.7 degrees C), nausea, etc.

School board policy 8.6023 requires that students requiring prescription medication (as defined in the United States) provide both a doctor’s order and Medical Release form (download)  as well as the medication to the nurses at the beginning of the day.

Some medications may be allowed to be carried by students (specifically inhalers) but that must be agreed upon by the parents and the health office.
