About CAC MUN
The Cairo American College Model United Nations (CACMUN) program was created in 1978 in order to offer students who are already exposed to international and multi-cultural daily life an opportunity to put their unique individual problem solving, diplomatic skills, and global understanding to use in a very dynamic and exciting forum.
The CACMUN program allows its participants to hone skills that will help them not only in their endeavors as "model diplomats", but also in their careers and daily interactions with others as young global citizens. Skills such as public speaking, debate, the art of compromise, and negotiation are examples of the life-long skills that CACMUN was created to develop. The primary goal of the CACMUN program has always been to build a sense of professionalism in its members that they will carry with them into their post-secondary educational challenges as well as their future careers. The members of the CACMUN program understand that a high-school education is more than academic preparation for college or university. The MUN program at CAC fills an important niche in their high school experience that no other class or activity can offer.
Another purpose of the CACMUN program is to offer talented students an opportunity to better their understanding of the technical workings of the United Nations. This includes parliamentary procedure, legislation creation, and the subtle political nuances that drive international relations.
