Dear CAC Community,

It is with great pleasure that we, the CAC Board of Trustees, welcome both new and returning students, families, administration, faculty and staff to CAC. We are looking forward to together making this a successful and fulfilling year.

The CAC Board of Trustees is here to serve the present and future generations of students by safeguarding the CAC Mission and ensuring that we continue to strive to be a world-class institution.

With Ellen D. Stern, our new interim superintendent, we have entrusted the daily operation of the school in very capable hands and the Board is excited to be working with her in the year ahead.

Whilst I am writing this, we are about to meet for our annual retreat on Saturday 20 August and Sunday 21 August. During the retreat we will organise ourselves, establish committees, set goals and develop plans for the future.

One of our goals will be to increase effective communication between the board and the community it serves and we intend to inform you regularly via the Cairo Glyphics, the all school newsletter that provides information on all aspects of the school.

To become more acquainted with Board and its work, you are very welcome to attend the Boards’ monthly Open Sessions. The dates for these, in general the third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm, as well as the minutes of the meetings, are published on the website http://www.cacegypt.org/about/board.html where you can also read more about who we are.

One of the challenges of the year ahead will be the search instigated by the Board at the end of last school year, for a new superintendent who will commence at CAC in July 2012. The search committee, under leadership of Maha ElShinnawy, will keep you updated on the process and by now you will have had the opportunity to share with Jim Ambrose, from Search Associates, your thoughts on your expectations of the successful applicant of this crucial position.

If you have had the opportunity to come to the campus, you will have noticed that the new Middle School building is well on its way to an expected completion   in the second half of the school year.
