For the past 4 years, first grade children worked on a rice collection project. This fits in with their unit on healthy food. The rice was donated to the Maadi Monastery which the students study as a unit of their Egyptian Culture classes. The monastery then takes care of distributing it to different places. In 2001 - 2002 they collected more than 200 kg of rice.

A second project was the Paper recycling. They attended a presentation with the rest of the elementary school. In addition, they invited the girls of the "Environment Protection Association." 1st graders watched them at work and participated in part of the procedure.
