THE CLUB
The Elementary Community Service club was formed in 2001-2002. A group of interested moms with the Elementary Egyptian Culture teachers work together to fulfill the objectives of the club.
The objectives of the club are
Projects for 2003-2004
The Egyptian Culture department continued running its weekly snack sale and biweekly food sale. The funds raised were used to support the different community service projects such as help an orphan read..
The department also continued its annual distribution of collected food and clothing sponsored by the high school community service classes.
In addition the department continued the donations of un-needed furniture and equipment to foster houses, senior citizens houses, social welfare projects, and centers for children with special needs.
Projects for 2002-2003
Help an Orphan Read
The project was launched in November 2002. With the help
of the book fair committee the ECSC had a booth on the open sale
day. The booth had samples of selected Arabic books. The Arabic
books will be donated to foster houses and orphanages to help
establish a library and promote reading. Students in the Arabic
classes decorated the posters and the cash boxes and wrote on
them in different languages including Arabic.
Paint a Bin to donate to public schools and orphanages. Students will paint (specially treated) trash bins and we will use some for recycling at CAC and some to donate to public schools. We are aiming at making 10 bins this year as a beginning.
Murals, the club is aiming to create more murals for schools. foster houses and seniors' houses.

Projects in 2001-2002:
The school supplies project was launched in September 2001. Five orphanages and foster houses benefited from this project. The following quantities were collected: pencils 276, erasers 99, notebooks 89, rulers 68, sharpeners 68, sketchbook 35, colored pencil boxes 28, protractors 7, geometry kits 4, coloring books 4, folders 5, pens 15, miscellaneous - 3 bags of pencils, colors etc.
The second project was the blanket drive in January 2002. The collected items were sent to 2 churches in the villages and 2 foster houses in Cairo.
The third project was "The Mural".
Two murals were created.
