HIGH SCHOOL  ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

Upcoming Progress Report and Athletic Eligibility Determination

Mid-semester narrative progress reports will be available on October 21 at 4:00pm.  Please be aware that this progress report represents the grades to date at the half way mark of the semester.  All students will be provided with narrative feedback on this progress report, which we hope you as the parents find helpful.  This progress report is used to determine athletic/activity eligibility and academic probation. It is very important that any students with outstanding work submit it well before the progress report is posted.  Once the grades are posted on the 21st they will not be adjusted and, as such, students who find themselves ineligible because they failed to submit their assignments on time will be unable to continue participating or travel for the upcoming tournament/competitions.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

The High School Parent-Teacher Conference Days are an excellent opportunity to visit campus and discuss your student’s academic progress with teachers. Conferences will take place on Monday, October 22 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Mid-semester progress reports will be posted on Sunday, October 21 at 4:00pm.

On October 22, conferences will be “arena style” in the ES Auditorium.  No appointments are needed and conferences are limited to quick “check ins” that do not require confidentiality. On Tuesday, conferences will be in teachers’ classrooms. Appointments will be made in fifteen-minute intervals.  For both types of conferences, students are encouraged to attend with parents.

There will be no school for High School students on Tuesday, October 23.

Please note that MS/HS cross-over teachers will ONLY be available at the drop-in conferences on Monday, October 22. Cross-over teachers are Ms. Ji Yun Jeong, Mr. Mick Barens, Mr. Ian McCuaig, and Mr. Derek Brown.

If a teacher’s schedule is fully booked for Tuesday’s conferences, you are to email that teacher directly to schedule a conference at another time and date. Also, if you won’t be available on the parent-teacher conference day, but want to visit specific teachers, please contact each teacher directly. Conferences for Tuesday will be done via Skyward. Parent signups begin on Sunday, October 14 and run through Monday, October 22 closing at 3:00 p.m.  For instructions, please click here. An email with instructions has been sent via email today.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Eman Hamza in the High School Office at ehamza@cacegypt.org or 2755-5403.

CACMUN

The Model United Nations (MUN) club provides a challenging and enriching forum for students to discuss current international issues and to view those issues from different perspectives. Members are chosen and trained in the spring semester and may have the opportunity to attend a conference prior to the end of that school year. Tryouts are held during the latter half of the Spring Semester for the following year. Additionally there is another tryout session at the start of the year for new students to CAC. The club meets every Tuesday evening from 5:15 - 7:00 pm to practice debate procedures, resolution writing and to learn about their assigned countries and issues.

We would like to invite you to visit CAC's 40th annual Model United Nations simulation, being held on campus from October 18 – 20.  http://www.cacmun.org

Skyward Directory

Dear CAC Parents,

This year, due to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), we will no longer print and distribute a hard copy of the CAC Family Directory. We will, however, be making family contact information available through our Student Information System, Skyward. The Skyward directory has some great features: you can search for families by homeroom or by grade level. You can choose which contact information you wish to include and you can print your search results. However, each family which agrees, needs to “opt-in” to the directory; in other words, families need to verify that they would like to make their contact information available to other CAC families. If you choose not to opt-in, your contact details will not be listed in the Skyward directory.

To opt-in to the directory, please log into Skyward Family Access. Click here for instructions.

Please understand that if you do choose to print the data to have it easily accessible at home, that it is confidential and should be destroyed when you no longer need it.

With kind regards,

Danya Amin

Director of Admissions/Registrar
