HIGH SCHOOL  ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to our World Scholars Cup Participants

Thirteen CAC middle and high school students recently returned from Yale University where they competed at the World Scholar's Cup Tournament of Champions. It was an incredible week of learning, competing and exploring, and began with an unexpected treat when nature decided to dump seven inches of snow the day after we arrived, turning picturesque New Haven into a winter wonderland.

The week began with the Egyptian Consul to the U.S. meeting our delegation at the opening ceremony and giving them some words of encouragement, and ended with a spectacular closing ceremony where Dalia (G8) proudly carried the flag for Egypt, while Anastasia (G9) marched with the flag of her home country, Belarus. In between students competed in four academic events covering six different subject areas, met and interacted with the 1200 or so students from 56 different countries who were participating this year, showed their talents at the Scholar's Show, represented Egypt at the Cultural Fair, toured the beautiful campuses of Yale, Harvard and MIT, and made memories to last a lifetime. All our students were rewarded for their hard work with medals in various events, with Anastasia our highest scoring student overall.  All were excellent ambassadors for CAC and clearly embodied our mission of learning, exploring and having fun!

Congratulations to middle school students Dalia, Yomna, Noor, Stefan, Safwan, Safiyah, Zane and high schoolers Anastasia, Yasmeen, Isabelle, Malcolm, Michael, and Kurian.

Spring Break Ski/Snowboard Trip

Mr. Miller is coordinating a ski & snowboarding trip for Spring Break, March 15th through March 22nd.  We have reserved a trip to Passo Tonale, Italy, which is forecast to have a great snow season this year.  The resort has over 30 lifts and over 100km of ski runs, with a wide variety from absolute beginner to quite advanced.  Snowtraxx, with whom we have worked before, do a great job running the trip for us, with fun counselors, lessons, and evening activities.

Total expense will depend on the number of students who go (minimum 16 this year!) and final airfare prices, but is expected to be about $2000 including airfare.  If you are interested, please fill out this form(https://goo.gl/forms/WasK9HvESjA5GUgh1).

CAC Holiday Tree

Days are getting shorter, the nights are longer and there is that unmistakable chill in the air. The season of giving is upon us! As Eagles “we come from many places, and we have a lot to give”, so Booster Club is inviting everyone to get into the spirit of the season!

Help decorate the CAC Christmas Tree that will be up beginning Sunday, Dec. 9. Bring an ornament (ES students will make their ornaments in Art Class) that represents you or where you come from, maximum 10cm diameter, and hang it on the tree. Parents, bring your ornament and join us on Sunday right after drop off at 8am to kickstart decorating the tree. Students and CAC staff, please watch  for announcements of when your group is scheduled to go.

There will be two collection boxes by the tree, one for donations of new school and art supplies, and another for donations of new socks. Your generosity will go a long way in putting smiles on children’s faces. Drop your gifts (unwrapped) in these boxes beginning Wednesday, Dec. 12 until Dec.19.

Let’s come together as a community to help spread goodwill within and beyond our CAC walls! Happy holidays to all!
