HIGH SCHOOL  ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

Happy Holidays

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season.  Whether staying in Egypt or traveling abroad, be safe and enjoy spending time with family and friends.  School resumes on January 13th, 2019.

Report Cards Online

Semester report cards will be available on SKYWARD at 4:00pm on January 17th.  SKYWARD access is closed during the coming weeks as grades are updated, and as we want students to enjoy a restful holiday break, rather than spending time looking at grade averages.

High School Twitter Site

As an additional quick and easy method to experience the daily lives of our CAC high school students, feel free to follow Dr. Harris’ twitter feed at https://twitter.com/CACHSupdates.  This is not meant to replace Moodle, Google Sites, or any other school communication method.

Summer Programs

Summer enrichment programs can be wonderful in helping students explore areas of interest and get experience ahead of applying for university in senior year.  Many highly selective universities have summer program application deadlines in January and February, so be sure to research and begin the application process over the break.  https://www.internationalacac.org/2019-summer-programs

Test Preparation

CAC will welcome Higher Ground Learning back from March 25th through April 10th to offer an ACT prep course ahead of the April ACT.  Find out more and register here: https://www.highergroundlearning.com/enroll?class=727

Juniors

As university offers for the Class of 2019 begin to roll in, we are preparing for the class of 2020.  Our university planning kickoff event on the evening of 22 January 2019 will include information sessions that provide an overview of the application process and specific information regarding higher education in various countries.

Seniors

Make sure to check your Spam folder every few days during college application season for potential communication from colleges and universities.  Also, check your application portals regularly for any communication about any documents or information necessary to complete your admissions file.  When you receive a decision from a university, please update Maia and notify your counselor.

Maadi Basketball Association (MBA) is Looking for Coaches

The MBA is a youth (5 years to fifteen years) basketball league for the Maadi community, and we are looking for some coaches this season. The MBA season runs from January, when we return to school, until mid-March.  All practices and games are held at CAC.  Teams practice one day a week (evening for one hour) and one game on Saturday morning (also one hour). These hours can work towards community service hours. If your son or daughter is interested in coaching, please have them contact me.

Spring Break Ski/Snowboard Trip

Mr. Miller is coordinating a ski & snowboarding trip for Spring Break, March 15th through March 22nd.  We have reserved a trip to Passo Tonale, Italy, which is forecast to have a great snow season this year.  The resort has over 30 lifts and over 100km of ski runs, with a wide variety from absolute beginner to quite advanced.  Snowtraxx, with whom we have worked before, do a great job running the trip for us, with fun counselors, lessons, and evening activities.

Total expense will depend on the number of students who go (minimum 16 this year!) and final airfare prices, but is expected to be about $2000 including airfare.  If you are interested, please fill out this form(https://goo.gl/forms/WasK9HvESjA5GUgh1).
