Dear Parents,

Thank you for reading this week’s edition of the News and Views.  We have had a great final week of teaching, learning and having fun. Our students were busy turning in persuasive essays, and taking summative tests. They are ready for the break and so are the teachers!

We are now looking forward to rest and relaxation during the three week holiday. On Tuesday, during advisory our students wrote KUDOS cards to each other and their teachers. The generosity and acts of kindness shown by our students were pretty remarkable!

It has been a tradition on the last morning of school before we depart for our Winter holiday to invite everyone and have a morning breakfast together. This year we had the luxury of a beautiful Christmas Tree in the background. The “Holiday Cheer’ is a great way for us to get to celebrate all that we have accomplished during the first part of the school year. Thanks to the Wellness Committee for their organization.

Holiday Cheer

The ES and MS students got together in their houses this morning to participate in some fun house events. It was great to see the MS students taking care of the ES students. It goes to show how strong of a community we have, here at CAC.

Students in French class were taking turns, introducing their family members, and explaining what makes their family members unique, to a classmate.

MS French

This month CAC's Grade 6 students made us proud. Their mission was to raise enough money to purchase 50 bags of necessities and gifts for the children of the African Hope Learning Center. Through bake sales, they not only met their goal but exceeded it by a big sum.  They also contributed with their time and effort by purchasing the supplies, packing, checking the bags, and delivering them. Great job Grade 6!

In an effort to support the diversity of our learners we have adjusted our schedule slightly for semester two. We have extended the SRR time to thirty minutes to give teachers time to help students who could benefit from developing executive functioning skills, social skills or receiving help in Math. This is also beneficial to our students who like to read. While the time might not seem like a lot, it will be daily and every little bit counts.
