BASIC TENANTS: Kickboxing is a type of martial arts that consists of using combination of kicks and punches, its purpose is to strike down the opponent. Some practices resort to kickboxing as a means of fitness or self defense instead of a full contact sport. Kickboxing as being a fairly new type of martial art, it is constantly changing, new methods and new rules are appearing, and practices vary from dojos. There are no weight restriction for matches.

HISTORY: The country of Origin for kickboxing is Japan. The two founders of Japanese kickboxing were: Osamu Noguchi and Tatso Yamada It was created in the 1950s as a more variant version of Muay Thai and karate. Kickboxing is often confused with Muay Thai or Thai boxing however, the main difference between them is that Muay Thai and Thai boxing allowed kicks to be delivered from the elbows and knees, and strikes below the belt were legal.
