Tang Soo Do

Tang Soo Do was first found in Korea, it was found in around 37BC in the northern part of Korea. Won Kuk Lee was said that he was the Korean martial arts founder. But still people argue about this. The word Tang Soo Do means difficult, the word Soo means hand and the word Do means skillful, hard, strong. The Hanja characters of Tang Soo Do is 唐手道. The ancestral art of Korean Soo Bahk Do can be traced back to the period when Korea was divided into 3 Kingdoms. After series of wars a dynasty of Sillas made 3 kingdoms in 668 AD. During this period of time the martial arts called Soo Bakh was being used as self defense warfare. Many Koreans exposed a Chines martial arts called Karate.

Tang Soo Do still is taught in many different organizations there are more than 500 studios and more than 10,000 people that still train world wide. In spring 1984, the Tang Soo Do federation was founded by a man called Chun Sik Kim, this mans main school is found in Pennsylvania, USA. The most Tang Soo Do federations are found in the USA than anywhere else, some of them is from generation to generation .

Tang Soo Do still seems to grow and evolve in many different ways. They still have got massive competitions all over the world and thousands of people still come to join.
