Earth Day

Earth Day is Everyday….

The Green Team of CAC welcomes all members of the school community to embrace this global reality on April 22. This message is to remind you of some local efforts to recognize the environmental movement worldwide.  We encourage all of you to celebrate and educate one another in the vision of a healthy and sustainable planet. We will continue to pursue these goals through education, cultural events, and consumer activism at CAC.  Here are some of the planned activities to look forward to on April 22 and a list of on-line resources that you can access in this shared teaching and learning process.

Schedule of Events for April 22, 2007

What you can do for Earth Day:  Everyone is encouraged to wear green clothing and a hat to school on April 22.  The hat is a reminder of our interest in being “Sun Smart”.  All members of CAC are invited to take part in the Waste-Free Lunch Challenge.

Elementary School Assembly:  8:20 - A short program on the school field to learn about the history of Earth Day and how to help the environment.  Guests are welcome to attend the event.

The entire Seventh Grade will be involved with a “Walk in Wadi Digla” as part of their sustainability unit.

There will be a showing of Al Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth, the 2007 Academy award winner for best documentary film. This film highlights the effects of global warming on our planet. The film will be shown in the Eagle’s Nest (3rd floor of the High School), starting at 3.15 p.m. and finishing at 4.55 p.m.   This event is open to all members of our community, and we hope to see you there.

CAC Waste-free Lunch Challenge
All students, teachers, and staff are encouraged to apply the principles of eating a waste free-lunch whether they are bringing lunch from home or by the choices they make when ordering from a vendor. How about challenging a friend or another class to see who can eat the most environmentally-friendly lunch?
