A Midsummer Night's Rockin' Eve
A Note from the Thespian Society...
The Thespian Society prides itself on excellence in the theatre. All the members of this Society have proven their commitment to the Performing Arts by having done at least 100 hours work in a theatrical capacity, to become a member. This passion and drive then continues when they become part of the society, and their awareness of becoming part of a much larger cause is established.
For this Thespian production to take place an enormous amount of team effort, group awareness, artistic talent, commitment and dedication were needed. The Stage Director, Stacey Goldie, was selected from other Thespian applicants, the cast was chosen from the Thespian Society and other aspiring Thespians, the Choreographer, Allyson Condrath was the Thespian President last year, and the tech crew is headed by Thespian member Ben Potter.
The Thespian society is a group of people, coming together as theatre makers, the creators of new worlds on stage, all sharing a love of theatre. Through all the theatre work they do they strive to uphold the Thespian pledge:
'I promise to uphold the aims and ideas of the International Thespian Society. I am a student of theatre and excellence is my ideal. I promise to perform my part as well as I can; to accept praise and criticism with grace; to cooperate with my fellow Thespians and work for the good of the troupe; and to share my love of theatre.'
Ahmed Khedr (Thespian President) and Fenella Kelly (Thespian Faculty Director)
A Note from the Director...
The Beatles were an English rock group who were the most critically acclaimed, commercially successful artists of their time. They continue to be held in the highest esteem for their artistic achievements, their huge commercial success, their groundbreaking role in the history of popular music , and their contributions to pop culture . Although their initial musical style was rooted in the sounds of 1950s Rock & Roll , the group explored a great variety of musical styles , ranging from Tin Pan Alley to rockabilly . The creative music and style of John Lennon , Paul McCartney , George Harrison , and Ringo Starr helped to define the 1960s and still does to this day.
Deciding on a musical theme for A Midsummer Night's Rockin' Eve was difficult but once The Beatles popped to mind, we were sure it was the way to go. We have tried to incorporate some of their finest songs, picking and choosing from over the years as well as adding in a little twist of our own.
The production has been an enormous undertaking and as is the case every year, many people have shared their talents to make it a reality. Tonight, you will see 51 talented student actors, singers and dancers present the story of A Midsummer Night's Rockin' Eve but many more have contributed their time and effort behind the scenes. Students, as well as teachers, parents and members of the community have worked tirelessly on the instrumentation, sound effects, lighting cues, costumes, props, make up and publicity. We are tremendously grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented people along the way. Our heart felt thanks go out to each and every one of them.
