"One can't believe impossible things"
" I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
Lewis Carroll
There are between 350 and 1500 different versions in the world today. Cinderella’s story has traveled the globe many times over, adapting itself to suit each teller’s needs. The variations are endless, yet each story stays true to the common theme that the Godmother and Cinderella sing about in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s version: "Impossible things are happening every day." Good things can happen to good people, and Cinderella, content to sit in a corner and daydream away her problems, is a good person. The great thing about this version is the Godmother’s warning that ". . . all I can do is grant you your wish. How it turns out from here is up to you." Cinderella has found magic in dreaming, but she must act to make those dreams come true.
