Concert Choir

Description: This course is open to any high school male or female with an interest in singing. There are NO auditions, and ALL students are encouraged to participate without regard to present singing ability or previous musical experience. Daily rehearsals will deal with the development of the voice as a musical instrument, music reading and sight-singing skills, exploration of a broad variety of choral music, working together as a group, and performance skills.

Concert Choir meets during two separate periods for easy scheduling. The two sections learn the same music, wear the same uniform, and perform together as one choir in the concerts. Accordingly, students should register for the most convenient class period (students are expected to bring a bottle of water to class.)

Members purchase their own uniforms, which they may either keep or sell upon exiting the class. The Concert Choir represents CAC in concerts, assemblies, festivals, and throughout the Maadi/Cairo community. Members of Concert Choir are also eligible to audition for the Chamber Singers an after-school ensemble, and the Association for Music in International Schools Honor Choir Festival, held in March each year.

Prerequisites: None
Credit: 1 credit
Length of Course: 1 year (may be repeated for credit)
Note: Concert Choir is designed as a year course, however under exceptional circumstances students are permitted to enroll for one semester only.
