Thespian Troupe # 3522 Rules and Regulations

 

 

Article I.    Name and Purpose

Section 1: This organization is called Troupe # 3522 of the International Thespian Society, a branch of the Educational Theater Association.

Section 2: The purpose of this troupe is the advancement of standards of excellence in the theater. More specifically, the troupe shall encourage students to attain a better mastery of the theater arts and set an example for all students interested in the theater work.

Article II. Members of the CAC Thespian Troupe # 3522 for the year 2007-2008

President:   Zein Hassanein

The president presides at all meetings, appoints all standing and special committees, directs and supervises all troupe activities.

Vice President: Brianna Besch

The vice president presides in the absence of the presidents and is responsible for the induction of new members. She also runs the induction, stands on committees throughout the year and attends all officers' meetings and troupe meetings.

Secretary: Jessica Sim

The secretary keeps the records of meetings and attends to troupe correspondence. She also keeps the point records of all activities: plays, production dates, casts, crews, and work accomplished as provided in the official point system.

Troupe Director/Sponsor: Ms. Roba El Shamy

The duties of the sponsor will be to oversee all troupe activities, to be the final authority in selection of new members and to be the guide of the group.

Article III. Meetings

Section 1: Meetings shall be held once a week on Thursday during the lunch break in the CAC Theater foyer, unless stated otherwise.

Section 2: Any member who is absent 3 meetings / year or 2 rehearsals during a current production, unless they have an excuse considered valid by the sponsor, shall be dropped from active membership.

Article IV. Attendance

Section 1: Members arriving late to or leaving early from meetings or rehearsals without a reason considered valid by the sponsor will be demerited. Three such offenses will be counted as an absence from a meeting without excuse.

Section 2: Attendance shall be considered in the point award system.

Article V. Inductions

Section 1: Inductions shall be held once a year.

Section 2: The troupe sponsor will determine the time and place of the induction ceremony.

Section 3: The vice president will be held responsible for the training of the speakers of the induction ceremony, must schedule and rehearse said speakers, as well as take care of the preparation of the stage and induction properties.

Article VI. Point Award System

Section 1: The troupe director/ sponsor will determine the exact number of points to be awarded in all theatrical and non-theatrical participation.

Section 2: Points will be awarded as suggested by the point system of the International Thespian Society.

Section 3: To attain Thespian membership, a student must earn ten points. One point represents ten hours of excellent work.

Section 4: A student must participate in at least two full length productions, or one full length production and two one act plays, or four one act plays, or what's equivalent according to the school activities.

Section 5: After Thespians have attained membership, further recognition for their outstanding work in the theater arts may be indicated by awarding stars for each additional ten points or one hundred hours of excellent work.
