PHILOSOPHY: The need for aesthetic experiences is basic to human experience. Every child has a right to develop his or her aesthetic potential to the fullest, and education in the Arts should be available at all levels. The performing Arts are part of the culture of all societies. Dance, Drama, and Music transmit the culture of past generations to the present generation and contribute to the development of the culture by giving it meaning.
Performing Arts education is an import component of the academic curriculum. Each student must be provided with the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills, self-knowledge, creativity, and aesthetic awareness, which allow him or her to become a complete person professionally and vocationally.
Description: This course is a one-year elective course designed to teach the fundamentals of video production as it pertains to the performing arts and to incorporate the cutting edge of technology with visual art and communication. Specific aspects of the course will include animation, camera operation, filming techniques, scripting, storyboards, roll editing, and filming and editing live performances. Students will leave the course with a video portfolio of their work. This course will fulfill the Fine Arts requirement.
