WWW Parents Night
Description of our trip, about 5 minutes each
Day 1 and 2- Getting to Darjeeling, arriving at the hotel (Brett, Lawrence)
Day 3-  HMI and the Zoo (Eric and Ayelen)
Day 4 and 5- Hike in the forest, Hindu festival, camp, visiting the town (Erika and Emily)
Day 6 and 7- Rafting, visiting St Alfonso and travel to Delhi  (Zach and Sarmad)
Day 8+9 Visit to Taj Mahal and Fahetepur Sikri and return home (Christina and Alyssa)

Visa Information

Passports, 2 photos and visa's fees need to be turned into us by the end of the day on Thursday, November 10th. Your passport will be returned to you approximately November 21st. Students who do not turn in all these items by November 10th will be responsible for getting their own visa's. Money and photos should be placed in an unsealed envelope with your name on it, placed inside your passport.

Visa fees are:
US passport holders: 390LE
Egyptian passport holders: 240LE
All others: 270LE

How much money should I bring?
Money is only needed for incidentals, such as snacks. $100 is a recommended minimum. Of course, there is no upper limit to how much you can spend.
 
What should I bring?
  • Small to medium-sized backpack
  • Duffel bag for bigger items
  • Medium-weight hiking shoes or boots (running ok)
  • Sandals (Tiva-type) for river rafting and around camp
  • 2 pair shorts
  • 2 pair long pants (or skirts)
  • 3 t-shirts
  • 2 short sleeve shirts
  • 4-5 pr. socks/ Wool also
  • Sweater or windbreaker  
  • Warm, insulated jacket
  • Layers or long-sleeved shirts/ Fleece and/or sweatshirts etc. 
  • Wool gloves and wool hat (available in Darjeeling)
  • Good warm sleeping bag
  • Small towel & personal wash kit (toothbrush/paste/razors/shampoo, etc.)
  • Swimsuit
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Camera
  • Binoculars (optional)
  • Repellent / 100 % DEET
  • Plastic water bottle.  At least one-quart capacity with a leak-proof cap that you can carry with you in your day pack.
  • Flashlight.  A small, battery powered "Maglight" is the best.  Be sure to bring along extra batteries.
  • Plastic Bags.  Zip-lock bags are very useful for protecting and organizing your belongings
  • Money belt or travel document bag.   
  • Journal or notebookThis is only a guideline...you are welcomed to bring whatever you wish within the limit of approximately 15-20 Kg per person.

Please be aware that we will sometimes be out of cell phone range. If you cannot reach us, try back at a later time. You can also call the school phone contact numbers.
