El colegio americano en cairo teine una programa extensiva del cariño del tortuga egipsia. Sheirf y Mindi Baha el Din son los scientistas mas conocidas del Testudo Klienmanni en Egito. Un dia en 1997, la policia egipsia entre en un Mercado, y tomaron casi 200 tortugas egipsias, y les daron a Sherif Baha el Din. Hasta hoy, hay dos programas para el cariño de estas tortugas, uno en su casa, y el otro, en CAC. Hay mas que 20 tortugas en CAC hoy.
Hay problemas extensivas con nuestros tortugas queridas en egito, son animales domesticos, les usen para comer, y su medio ambiente esta desapareciendo por causa de los ciudades que estan crescendo rapidamente en Egito.
Cairo American College has an extensive Egyptian Tortoise program, the 8th grade works with the housing program, right on campus, they feed them, keep records of their growth, and oversee the breeding program.
As you walk past the average looking science rooms into a seemingly abandoned corner of the roof at CAC, you hardly realise youve entered one of the lagest and most productive Testudo Klienmanni centers in Egypt, and the only one of its kind in a school, in the world. All of these Tortoises were obtained during a raid on the Tunsi market here, in Cairo, in 1997. Two of the best reptologists in egypt, Sherif and Mindi Baha-el Din, took all of the confiscated Testudo Klienmanni in, and began a. the CAC project, and b. a release project in north Sinai. The

Background
Egyptian Tortoises, with their patterened shells, and local reknown as a fertility remedy, have been steadily declining in polulation. Their natural habitat is being taken over by the growth of cities, and the demand for these exotic, but illicit pets.
