El Cuento de la Lengua en el Caso de Liz

I'm Liz, and welcome to my webfolio.   I have been taking Spanish ( ESPANOL ) since sixth grade, and now I will be graduating at the end of this year--making a total of seven years of this grand old language.   Oddly enough, if we had a conversation in Spanish you'd think I'd taken it for about three years.   But no, I spent a lot of time in middle school practicing the preterit and making videos like 'Noticias un Dia Tarde'.

My webfolio includes all sorts of goodies such as pictures of paintings and painters, of Spanish descent, that I adore.   And possibly a picture or two from my trip to Spain a couple Christmas's ago.   I also have several papers I have written this year, as well as some from last year--some creative and some not so creative.

Enjoy! Thank you, come again.

If you would like, you can email me here.

The above picture is of me and my sister at the Alhambra, in Granada, Spain.

XVII (No te amo)

-Pablo Neruda

In Spanish 4, we wrote a story along the lines of 'La Sala de Espera' , called a 'composicion libre'. You can view this somewhat creative task that shows some of my personal growth in spanish and my grasp of the language as a whole, as well as my use of magic realism.

In 8th grade, my friends and I, with the help of my Spanish teacher, made a news broadcast. We spent over 3 weeks preparing and recording it and eventually putting it together... And I still have it! It was more entertaining then than it is now, but it is a memory of good times in South Africa.

Because of the format of the file, you'll have to be working on a PC to view this. Save it to your computer and open it in real player.

More recently, in Spanish 5, we wrote a paper about war, and the effects of war. I have included it here because not only did I enjoy the topic, but I got a good grade. Go figure.

Redaccion de Guerra

And yet another activity we did last year, that I enjoyed. A smaller copy is visible here, and if you click on it you get to see the document itself. It is a 'redaccion' about an article we read concerning the X-Games and cylcing as an extreme sport.

Your first years of learning a language is fun and games, singing the alphabet and such, and in the middle years you're stuck learning vocabulary and difficult tenses. But the glory and fun returns once you get to the higher levels, where you play for proficiency. This is how it's been for me in Spanish, and although it's never really been easy, it's been a long journey, and the documents shown here are just milestones and other enjoyable activities along the way.
