THE PROGRAMS


The Summer Enrichment Program

  • this program focuses on individual enrichment
  • the classes range from science to literature to acting to dancing to computers
  • this is an "a la carte" program

The Summer Day Camp

  • this activity-based program encourages participants to interact and perform together
  • the Day Camp provides participants with a daily schedule of  swimming, team activities, and team sports
  • this is a "set menu" program

All sessions are two weeks in length, and run Sunday through Thursday.  The Day Camp runs daily from 8:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon.  The Enrichment Program offers two-hour classes except for some sports classes which are one hour in length.

THE INSTRUCTORS


CAC

  • many of the instructors involved in the Summer Programs are dedicated and knowledgeable members of the CAC community
  • the aquatics team, the computer staff, classroom teachers and assistants provide the Summer Programs with quality instruction and a commitment to excellence

Cairo community

  • CAC is proud of its partnerships with superb instructors who teach at other reputable institutions and facilities in the Cairo area
  • from national coaching experience to black belts to awards in recreational aviation, the skills of these educators make them welcome participants in our Summer Programs

The Dutch Academy

  • all instructors from The Sports Academy in The Hague, Netherlands, are fully trained and licensed teachers in the area of sports education
  • whether they are on the field, in the pool, or by the balance beams, these teachers will provide all participants with safe and challenging physical activities

WHO CAN REGISTER

  • Our participants range from the ages of 4 to 15.  We are sure that we have something for everyone.  Please choose courses and programs according to your child’s interests and the age range listed.

THE SUMMER PROGRAMS OFFICE

  • once the programs are in session, the office will be in Room 600 -- the lower level of the building to your right as soon as you pass through the front gate
  • before the summer sessions begin, the office will be in Room 658 – the upper level of the builidng to your right as soon as you pass through the front gate.

Early Bird Regisgration FEE (April 1st – May 15th, 2008)
$100 per two-hour enrichment class (2 hours per day X 10 days)
$65 per one-hour enrichment class (1 hour per day X 10 days)
$315 per preschooler in the full-day program (8:00-3:00:  70 hours of supervised activities)
$230 per preschooler in the half-day preschool (9:00-2:00:  50 hours of supervised activities)
$220 per participant in the Day Camp (8:00-3:00: 70 hours of camp activities)

REGISTRATION FEE – (May 16th – July 24th)
$110 per two-hour enrichment class (20 hours of enrichment)
$70 per one-hour enrichment class (10 hours of athletic enrichment)
$325 per preschooler in the full-day program (8:00-3:00:  70 hours of supervised activities)
$240 per preschooler in the half-day preschool (9:00-2:00:  50 hours of supervised activities)
$240 per participant in the Day Camp (70 hours of campus activities)

  • all clients may pay for classes or programs in US dollars or the equivalent in Egyptian pounds
  • the Summer Programs Office can accept checks or cash

REGISTRATION HOURS
Our Summer Office will open on Sunday, April 1ST and remain open until Thursday July 24, Sunday – Thursday from 8:00 – 4:00 p.m. 

To register online go to www.cacegypt.org.  Once in the site you can enter personal and health information and select your choice of classes.  To confirm classes, payment must be made within one week either by check made out to Cairo American College or cash in Dollars or equivalent in LE  and delivered to the Summer Program Office. 

REFUND POLICY

  • participants will receive a FULL refund if they withdraw from a class or a program before May 15th, 2008.  No refunds will be issued if withdrawal is made after May 15th.
  • the currency of payment will reflect the currency of refund.
  • all withdrawals must be made either online or in person at the Summer Programs office.
  • failure to adhere to our attendance policy may result in a withdrawal without a refund:  please note the attendance policy

CLASS CANCELLATIONS

  • the Summer Programs Office has the right to cancel any class or program with insufficient enrollment.
  • in case of class cancellation you will be entitled to received a full refund or make a different course selection.
  • each enrichment class must have a minimum of six participants except for art classes which must have a minimum of eight participants.

CAMPUS HOURS AND RULES

  • admission to the CAC campus is by issued CAC ID cards only.
  • CAC community members will use their CAC ID cards.
  • all visiting participants will receive a temporary ID card and must carry them at all times; students are to pick up their ID cards on the first day of registration.
  • the Summer Programs ID card will allow participants to access the campus Sunday – Thursday from 7:30-3:30 only.
  • if participants lose their ID cards, they must return to school with one passport photo for a renewal card.
  • participants are to be on time for their respective schedules:  late comers disrupt the activities and programming.
  • participants are not to be at school before 7:30 or after 3:30.
  • participants may use the Summer Programs office phone when necessary.

STUDENT DROP-OFF AND PICKUP

  • please drop off and pick up participants at the Front Gate of CAC on Road 253.

BREAKS AND LUNCH

  • students MUST remain on campus during breaks and lunch.  Prior written parent permission is required in cases where a student must leave campus for any reason during breaks or lunch.
  • the morning break is from 10:00-10:20
  • lunch is from 12:20-1:00
  • there is an air-conditioned lunchroom in the administrative building as well as plenty of shaded areas.
  • the CAC catering service will provide lunch, drinks, snacks, and treats all day long for those who wish to purchase such items (a list of prices is avaialble in the Summer Program Office).
  • please pack a healthy lunch with plenty of fluids for your child, OR, provide him or her with lunch money
  • there are filtered water fountains on campus
  • please do not litter our beautiful campus
  • snacks and fluids are forbidden in the computer labs, by the pool, and in the gymnasia

FIRST AID STATION

  • all unwell participants should visit our resident medical advisor so that he/she can tend to them and call parents or guardians if necessary

ATTENDANCE POLICY

  • daily class and program attendance is expected and required from all participants
  • CAC takes attendance daily
  • parents or guardians must call the Summer Programs Office if a child will be absent.
  • if any participant has been absent from a class or program for four successive days or more, he or she will be dropped from the course without a refund

PUNCTUALITY

  • if a participant is consistently late, the instructor will inform the Summer Programs Office.
  • the Summer Office will contact parents or guardians if a participant is late for a third time.
  • if tardiness persists, the participant will face expulsion from our Programs.

DISCIPLINE POLICY

  • every participant and instructor has the right to a safe, fun, and respectful learning environment.
  • all participants must be polite to one another, to their instructors, and to visitors on our campus.
  • CAC instructors have high behavioral expectations of all participants and will uphold the CAC discipline policy.
  • participants will act in a responsible manner, will exhibit courtesy and respect to others, and will respect the property and feelings of others.
  • participants are welcome to the CAC campus, and in return, CAC expects everyone to maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the campus.
  • littering is not acceptable at CAC.

VANDALISM AND THEFT

  • any vandalism will result in immediate expulsion without any refund; serious acts of vandalism will result in financial obligation.
  • participants are expected to maintain and respect the grounds, the buildings, the classrooms, and classroom materials.
  • CAC does not assume responsibility for lost, broken, or stolen valuables.
  • please do not send items of value with your child to school, but if your child has to bring something of value, then please tell him or her to bring it to the Summer Programs Office for safekeeping.

CLASSROOMS AND ACTIVITY AREAS

  • participants are not to be in any classroom or facility without an instructor present.
  • participants are not to bring food or fluids into any classroom or gym except for water.

SMOKING

  • CAC is a smoke free campus.  Smoking is strictly forbidden.

DRESS CODE

  • participants are to wear clothing that is suitable for a learning environment and for our host culture.
  • CAC asks for modesty, neatness, and respectfulness.
  • the Summer Programs office reserves the right to make final judgment of acceptable attire for participants.
  • participants must wear shoes at all times.
  • shirts and blouses must cover the shoulders.
  • midriffs should not show and cutoff shirts are not acceptable.
  • shorts must be modest.
  • no torn, ripped, or cutoff clothing is acceptable
  • Day Campers must wear sports shoes
  • for participants in art and crafts or cooking classes, a cover-up or apron is advisable

SPORTS ATTIRE

    • enrichment sports classes and Day Camp activities demand sports shoes and comfortable cotton clothing.
    • no sandals or platforms are allowed for either sports enrichment classes or the Day Camp.
    • participants with long hair should have ties and/or bands.
    • for tennis classes, participants must bring their own racket (a sun hat or visor is advisable).
    • for swimming classes, participants must supply their own swimsuit, deck sandals, goggles, and a towel (although the CAC swimming pool does not require swim caps for participants with long hair, long hair should be tied back).
    • for dance classes, participants must wear comfortable clothing and sports shoes.
