This course covers the fundamental styles and techniques
of dance and is open to anyone with an interest in dance. Dance exercises
and phrases will emphasize the development of strength, flexibility, coordination,
rhythmic skills, dynamics and movement through space. Various styles of
dance will be learned through demonstration and improvisational exercises.
Students will create and perform their own dances as well as class dances
at a dance concert at the end of each semester. There will be opportunities
for performing throughout the year. All students should have dance attire
such as a leotard, tights, bike shorts, etc... It is also recommended that
students purchase black jazz shoes. |
