Joined the Board in July 2020 as a Community Representative for a two-year term and was appointed for a one-year term ending in 2023.  Mr. Abdou is a CAC alumnus, parent, and active volunteer.  He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Finance from the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School respectively, as well as an MBA from the Harvard Business School.  He has held various positions throughout his career in major corporations such as ExxonMobil, the Boston Consulting Group, Orascom Telecom etc and is currently the Executive Chairman of the Sawiris Family Office.  Mr. Abdou served on the boards of dozens of companies all over the world as well as the AUC Business School Dean’s Strategic Advisory Board for 4 years and helped direct the school through various initiatives.  In 2017/2018 he was the CAC Director for the Injaz Student run business entrepreneurship competition where his team not only won Best Company in Egypt but Best Product in a Regional Competition with 7 other countries.  While he enjoys all his interactions with kids both inside and outside school his true passion is coaching kids football where he has been a volunteer coach for 15 years.  Mr. Abdou and his wife Alyaa have two children, Hashem class of 2019 and Hussein class of 2025.
