Data Driven Teaching and Learning

ES Teams spent this morning reviewing some of the extensive data they have gathered on our CAC learners, as they work to continually improve instruction and learning at CAC. The teachers reviewed MAP, On Demand Writing, Fontis and Pinnell, and CAT4 data as they worked to ensure that each student is reaching his or her potential and that instruction is focused on the right elements of writing, reading, and math instruction. Deep conversations and discussions about patterns and anomalies help teachers and administrators best address the needs of all our learners.

Each line on the chart above represents one student; across each line are over 30 data points about each individual learner. The whole sheet represents all CAC 4th and 5th graders.

Update on Campus Safety

I am aware that parents continue to seek information about what the school is doing to improve campus safety in the days and weeks following the tragic accident on October 8th. The Board and Administration have put intensive energy and focus on these issues, while also supporting the ongoing programs of CAC.

CAC commissioned reports by an outside safety inspector on general campus safety conditions and on the specific lessons to be learned from last month’s fatal accident.  The Administration is using these as inputs for a plan of action that it will presented this month to the Board of Trustees for feedback and approval.  More information will be forthcoming shortly from the Board.
