 Head of School's Newsletter - December 7, 2017

We are looking forward to the annual PTO Book Fair that will take place December 10-14. It will be held in the courtyard behind the MS/HS building, down the ramp just as you enter school at the main gate.

Booster Club at Book Fair

Please join the Spirit Cafe in celebrating another wonderful PTO Book Fair!

We will be there to help keep you warm while shopping for those wonderful books. Sip on hot cocoa and warm apple cider, while snacking on some fresh baked goods. Sunday - Wednesday from 3-5 pm.

In addition, and as part of the Christmas Market on Thursday, the Spirit Cafe will have a different menu to help celebrate the season, including  hot dogs, macaroni & cheese, chicken tenders, and chili... Thursday 3-6  pm.

See you there after school Dec 10-14!

Congratulations to all CAC MS and HS musicians, who performed in last night’s winter concert. In an event to be remembered, guest hosts Bob and Doug McKinzie led the audience through an amusing, creative, and impressive musical spectacle. CAC’s Beginning Band, Intermediate Band, HS Band, MS Choir, HS Choir, and MS/HS Strings group filled two hours with seasonal songs as well as Broadway hits, classical music, and other genre. And there was a puppet choir, too… Congratulations to our music teachers and the program directors, Mr. McCuaig, Ms Jeong, and Ms. Rozier, as well as to Mr. Khalifa in the booth.

In light of President Trump’s announcement about Jerusalem, there is a heightened concern about security.  CAC continues to be in very close contact with the US Embassy’s Regional Security Office on these matters;  I would encourage all American families to register with the Embassy’s STEP program through its website to receive official security updates.  This morning’s drop off was ‘business as usual’ and we will remain extra vigilant in coming days.

Santa brought an early present to several CAC Seniors this week: notification of admissions to college!! Congratulations to CAC Senior Patrick Williams, who was admitted to Coastal Carolina University, his first choice school. Super, Patrick! Congrats also to Collin Green, who also got into his #1 choice: Concordia in Wisconsin. Way to go, Kayla Jacob, admitted to Loyola Chicago. Super work,  Youssef Kheir Eldin, admitted to DePaul U. And finally excellent news for Cameron Leftwich, admitted to Bowling Green (Ohio) Nice work, EAGLES!!!

Gentlemen, don’t worry! We don’t expect you to dress up as a Pharaoh, (unless you really want to!) but we promise you will have a fantastic time!

HS Building Update

Parents have asked recently about the progress on the HS building project. It is moving forward, though always feels a bit slower than I’d personally like to see. Flooring tiles have been laid on nearly the whole 1st floor, about half of the 2nd floor. Walls are being finished and A/C ducting is being installed in classrooms and office spaces. Electrical conduit is installed throughout, as is fire suppression water piping. We’re getting there. There is still no definitive answer as to ‘how much delayed is the project after the October 8th accident?’ We are in negotiations with our Contractor, who has asked for far more days extension than we feel is justified...and so it goes.
