Shelter in Place Drill - information to parents

We will be having a drill on March 12 to practice shelter procedures. Teachers will discuss this as “shelter practice” with students in age-appropriate ways, but you may also want to also talk to your child about the subject. Last year, we shared this article with helpful suggestions for talking to children about safety procedures and practices. One of the things addressed is the impact of the terminology we use. Staff members will be going over this in advance, as we work together to ensure that students feel safe, protected, and aware of what to do in different situations.

Talking to Kids about School Lockdown Drills

The drill will be held at 12:00 pm, so if you are on campus, we ask that you follow instructions when asked to go to a safe place. Everyone who is outside will be moved to the ES Hall.

Tuesday Swim School

Tuesday Swim School is back in Season 3, starting Tuesday, March 20. These classes are offered to provide additional support for those swimmers that are not yet ready for the Age Group Swim Team along with Springboard Diving lessons.

The 4th event of the CCS, the Long Jump, is coming soon and will be held for Grades 2-5. All participants are asked to come to the Long Jump pit at lunchtime on the following day for their grade.

ES Talent Show, CAC Theater - May 3rd, 2018

It is time to prepare for our annual ES Talent show! If your child is interested in participating in this amazing performance of talent, please join me for a mandatory Parent Meeting,Wednesday, March 7th from 10:40 am - 11:00 am in the ES Drama Room. If you are unable to make this meeting, you are welcome to drop in during Parent-Teacher Conferences, March 13th and 14th.

Live Theatre Field Trip - March 13th, 2018

Hakawy International Arts Festival brings international and local performances designed for children from around the world and presents them in a vibrant week-long festival with the aim of educating and entertaining Egyptian children and their families through arts and culture.  

This year, the U.S. Embassy is sponsoring one of the troupes, Manuel Cinema, to bring their project Lula Del Ray to the festival.  Lula Del Ray is performed with overhead projectors, shadow puppets, actors in silhouette, and live music. Told almost entirely sans dialogue, Lula del Ray is the story of a lonely adolescent girl who lives with her mother on the outskirts of a vast satellite array in the middle of the desert.

We will take all the 5th Grade to see this performance on March 13th. We will leave CAC immediately following the ES Assembly, 8:30 am, and estimated return to CAC is 12:00 pm. Please send a water bottle, snack and packed lunch with your child.

Campus Access Requests Online - Repeated
Parents wishing to bring friends and family to campus will request access through an online form  from now on. This form is available on the parent dashboard. This form will capture the needed information and send it to the appropriate administrator for approval and communicate the decision to the user and the security team. A tutorial is also available on the dashboard in case you need help with filling out the form.

Jar O’Sunshine

The sunshine jar charity initiative by the Elementary School Student Jude El Mofty, grade 4 & her mum

The story started when Jude became interested in service, yet she thought that all we can do is to donate money. Jude’s mom wanted to teach her that we have more to give and the most precious thing we can give is time and effort. So, she decided on the Jar O’Sunshine. Together they chose the 365 quotes carefully, worked on designing the Jars and assembled the jars with 365 quotes each. The main message behind the initiative, is to teach all the students that we can start by donating something small; amount of money, energy, and time and this will be the seed to other greater causes. All Proceeds will go to AHL Masr Foundation (the Burn Hospital).


A 365 quote jar. A quote a day. This initiative started out simply to teach Jude that charity is not only donating money. Charity can be a lot of things. For us, we chose to work on an idea that had so much detail and work, but it spreads happiness and positivity. So, we can do good and make everyone feel good.

How certain foods may be at the core of your chronic fatigue

Dana Dinnawi is a holistic health coach and wellness coach, and editor and publisher of Empowered Wellness and Living Magazine.

She is passionate about showing strong, smart, independent women how to take back control of their lives . . . from what they eat and how they look, to what they do and how they feel.

She helps them break out of the cycle of yo-yo dieting so they can shed the last stubborn kilos, get rid of sugar cravings and learn how to eat for life so they can regain their energy and self-confidence to refocus on themselves and create a guilt-free lifestyle that fills them up daily.

Dana and her husband are both CAC alumni, class of '91 as are her daughters Malak '15 and Nour '17. Her youngest, Youssef is in 4th grade.

Dana will help you discover how to regain your energy and how to optimally eat for life. The topic of her presentation is “Filling Your Tank but Running on Empty: How certain foods may be at the core of your chronic fatigue”.

2018 Theme: "CAC in Egypt"

Extended Deadline: 4:00 pm, Thursday, March 15, 2018


  • There will be first, second and third in each of three age categories for students and one grand prize for the CAC community category.
  • Age categories are 4-8, 9-13, and 14-18 and CAC Community Adults
  • The following prizes will be awarded in cash in 4-8 and 9-13, 14-18 age categories.
    1st - $100, 2nd - $50, 3rd - $25.
  • CAC Adult Community member grand prize is $200 in cash.


  • All CAC students, alumni, teachers, staff and parents are eligible to participate.

Artwork Specifications

  • Artwork must address the given theme.
  • Only flat media will be accepted.
  • Any medium (pastel, watercolor, oil, pencil, crayon, digital art, etc.) is acceptable.
  • Submissions must be entirely or essentially the artist’s original work.
  • Found material such as bits of wallpaper, photographs or printed matter may be used, e.g., in a collage, but must be presented in an original way in the context of an essentially new composition.
  • Dimensions of submitted work should be minimum 13.4" x 14.2" or 34 cm x 38 cm and maximum 21.65" x 27.5" or 55 cm x 70 cm Portrait dimensions


Use of Artwork

  • Artwork will become the property of CAC/PTO/Booster Club and will not be returned to artist.
  • CAC may use submitted artwork in CAC-related publicity or products and retains the right to sell the artwork for fundraising purposes.

Submitting Artwork

  • All entries, including digital artwork, MUST be dropped off at the Spirit Store.
  • For digital artwork, please include both a printed and the digital version.
  • Artwork must ARRIVE by the stated deadline of March 15, 2018.
  • A completed Entry Form MUST accompany the artwork and be attached to the back of the submission.

Entry forms available at the Spirit store. Artwork and Entry Forms must be dropped off at the Spirit Store by 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 15, 2018.
