Encouraging a Healthy Body Image Despite the Influence of the Media

Apple I-PAD touch, I-Phone 7, Smart Watch, MacBook Air…it’s hard to keep up with the latest and the greatest in the tech world! Advancements in technology are moving at a rapid pace, making it easier to access the Internet and the outside media from virtually anywhere in the world.

Our children are exposed to the influence of the media at an earlier age than ever before. It‘s nearly impossible to shield children from the negative messages often portrayed in the media, such as “your value is based on your outward appearance” and “you must be thinner or more muscular to be loved, accepted and successful in life.” However, there is a lot we can do to buffer these messages so that our children develop a positive sense of self-worth based on more than just appearance.

Click here for strategies on Encouraging a Healthy Body Image.

After School Activities Session
We have started the activities this week. Thank you to the parents who shared the schedules with their children before they came to school. We have done our best to schedule students in at least 1 or 2 activities of their top choices activities. In the case that students drop out /don’t commit to attend their scheduled activities, we go back to the original sign up and offer randomly to those who had signed up earlier and did not get in. Please check this quick viewof the ASA dates.
