No School

Dear Parents,

Thank you for reading this week’s edition of the News and Views. We want to extend Happy New Year wishes to all our students and families. We trust that everyone had an enjoyable holiday and used the time to rest, relax, recharge, and reconnect with family and friends. It was great to have all the students and faculty back on campus this week. The Middle School has quickly returned back to the teaching and learning process as well as after school activities, and everyone seems happy to be connecting with friends and teachers after the winter break.

As we are nearly halfway through the second trimester, we will be issuing our Trimester Two Progress Reports on Wednesday January 24th. We hope that this “snapshot”of learning provides students and parents with valuable information about progress being made toward academic learning goals.  As in the past, we will issue progress reports electronically. Parents will be asked to login to Skyward to check their child’s progress. We will be sending out a separate email with login and password information, and explanation about how you can check your child’s progress. Lookout for this important piece of communication. In the case of all progress reports, teachers will report only on Learning Traits Progress.” Narrative comments will be provided for all new students as well as those students who are “Not Yet Achieving Grade Level Expectations” in an Academic Achievement category and marks of ‘Rarely’ Traits.

Next week we will have an ERD on Wednesday and our second Maker Day of the school year. Please make a note to yourself that students will be dismissed at 11:30 am on Wednesday. I will be holding my Principal Coffee on Wednesday January 24th, at 10:00 am, in room 115. The topic of discussion will be “Sexting”.  A reminder that on January 25th there will be no school for National Police Day/Revolution Day.

In the coming weeks we will be hosting the CAC Math Counts on campus. The athletics department is seeking your support.  We haven’t hosted an international school event in a long time and this is a great opportunity to showcase our community by hosting students that are coming to CAC to participate in this event. Please go to the link here for more information.
This is information for current grade eight parents.  The High School Counselors will present an overview to parents of 8th graders about the process for 9th grade registration.  We will show you the selection of courses offered, the requirements for 9th graders, and a preview of a typical 4 year sequence of classes.  We will give you a copy of the course registration card that will be handed out to your 8th graders during advisory on January 31st.

Parents wishing to bring friends and family to campus will request access through an online form  from now on. This form is available on the parent dashboard. This form will capture the needed information and send it to the appropriate administrator for approval and communicate the decision to the user and the security team. A tutorial is also available on the dashboard in case you need help with filling out the form.

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey

Middle School Principal
