Dear Parents,

Thank you for reading this week’s edition of the Middle School News and Views.  On Wednesday we had ‘The Biggest Splash.” This activity is a favorite amongst staff and students. Please see photos below.

Our students and teachers are preparing the final pieces of the Prime Trip. For parents who would like to pick up their child from the airport when they return, please click on and fill in this LINK

We issued our first set of progress reports for Semester One. We hope that this brief snapshot of learning will provide students and parents with valuable information about the progress being made toward academic learning goals. We will also be issuing progress reports electronically using Skyward. Parents will be asked to log-on to Skyward to check their child’s progress. If you did not receive the message with the login instructions, please send an email to

In the case of all progress reports, teachers will report only on their Approaches to Learning. In some cases, but not all, students will also receive a Narrative Comment from their teacher. These comments are not required from teachers for progress reports. Please find time to talk with your child about their learning and specifically, we ask you to focus your attention on the Approaches to Learning. We report on these separately and find that students who perform well on their Approaches to Learning generally also do well in the areas of Academic Achievement.

Our Semester One Progress Reports precede our upcoming Middle School Parent Teacher Conferences, which will take place on Tuesday October 23rd, as indicated on the CAC calendar. These will be the first round of Parent/Teacher Conferences for Middle School, and we have set aside this day on the calendar, to provide an opportunity during the first half of the school year, for you to meet with teachers and discuss your child’s academic progress. It is crucial that your son/daughter comes to the conferences with you to have that conversation with their teachers.

The Middle School runs an “arena style” conference format. The Middle School Auditorium, the MS Cafeteria, and classrooms on the Lower Level will be set up “arena” style, and tables will be organized by subject area (i.e. Math/Science, Social Studies/Language Arts).

Conferences are then structured to last no more-than five minutes, so as to maximize the time available for all parents to meet with teachers. We ring a bell to signal the end of each five-minute session. We also stagger the schedule by family’s last name to avoid overcrowding and excessive wait time, as well as to provide short breaks and lunch for teachers.

Thank you for your continued support of the Middle School.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey

Middle School Principal

 Skyward Directory

Dear CAC Parents,

This year, due to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), we will no longer print and distribute a hard copy of the CAC Family Directory. We will, however, be making family contact information available through our Student Information System, Skyward. The Skyward directory has some great features: you can search for families by homeroom or by grade level. You can choose which contact information you wish to include and you can print your search results. However, each family which agrees, needs to “opt-in” to the directory; in other words, families need to verify that they would like to make their contact information available to other CAC families. If you choose not to opt-in, your contact details will not be listed in the Skyward directory.

To opt-in to the directory, please log into Skyward Family Access and follow the instructions found through THIS LINK.
