Karan FloraLSS Faculty
Karan Flora graduated from Trinity University with a BA in Elementary Education (K-8) and Special Education. She received training and certification as a Language therapist, specifically to work with dyslexic, non-reading students. Six years of her teaching experience was in the inner city as an elementary teacher, in Texas and California. After taking time off from formal teaching to be at home with her three boys, she taught for three years in Spokane, WA as a Middle School Special Education teacher. She has been at CAC for four years, beginning in the High School and Middle School as a Learning Support Services teacher. Currently she is the 6th grade LSS teacher and co-teaching Language Arts and Math. One of her passions is helping students identify their strengths and weaknesses, to develop appropriate strategies to become successful, independent learners. All students have gifts and abilities that can support their learning when given the tools. As a new empty nester, Karan and her husband enjoy spending time with friends, biking in the wadi, walking, cross country or downhill skiing, hiking, reading by the beach and being active in the sunshine.
