Tai TorkySocial Studies Faculty
Tai Torky has a BA in Political Science specializing in International Law from the American University in Cairo, Egypt, and an MAT in Secondary Social Sciences from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Having spent her time between the US and Egypt early in her career, Tai holds a unique insight into what it takes to inspire a CAC student, particularly having graduated from the school herself in 2000. Following her post graduate degree, Tai taught at Sprayberry High School in Atlanta, Georgia for three years before moving back to Egypt in 2009 to pursue an opportunity to teach at the school she cherished so dearly. As a Social Studies teacher, Tai’s primary goal is to cultivate curiosity about the world, instill the desire to promote positive change and inspire the will in her students to become lifelong learners. She adores working with Middle School students and believes these formative years are crucial for the development of motivated young adults with critical thinking at their core, and an endless desire to discover more about our ever-changing world. Tai has an extensive and rather ambitious life-list, and during her free-time she enjoys making sure that as many of these experiences are “checked off.” Among her recent endeavors: hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, learning to kite-surf, game driving in the Masai Mara and most recently swimming with dolphins during the 7th Grade PRIME Trip. Tai continues to be inspired by her students and colleagues and feels lucky to be able to work in such an innovative and energized environment where the focus is bringing out the best in every student.
