Karim joined the Board of Trustees in January 2023 as the bp representative.

Karim Alaa currently holds the position of Group Senior Vice President Joint Ventures and Special Projects at bp being accountable for overseeing bp’s 300+ global portfolio of joint ventures across 60 countries and special projects across regions.  Prior to that, Karim was bp’s Regional President for North Africa for 3 years.

Karim joined bp in 2006 and has almost 20 years of oil and gas experience. He held various managerial and commercial roles in bp including Egypt Head of Country, North Africa Vice President Commercial & Planning and Group Senior Advisor Planning & Strategy based in London.

Karim Alaa holds a BA in Business Administration and an MBA from the American University in Cairo.

Karim has one son attending KG at CAC.
