New Baby Tortoise!

CAC’s Tortoise Tenders were VERY excited late last week to discover another baby tortoise. This is an Egyptian desert Tortoise (the previous babies were from the Greek Tortoise side of the enclosure) and is quite rare. You can see the little guy up close in the ES lawn during the school day.

Faculty Work on Student Wellness

CAC faculty met on Tuesday to discuss our student wellness program and some of the related issues. CAC has a strong support for many facets of student wellness, including an outstanding and very robust athletics program, excellent facilities for physical education, highly qualified counselors to support students emotionally, and a quality advisory program in our Middle School to support students’ social and emotional wellness at that critical stage of life. There are, though, other aspects of student wellness that we continue to discuss and hope to strengthen in the future. Specifically on Tuesday, CAC faculty reflected on student identity issues and the challenges of being TCKs, of being bi-cultural, of being ‘different’ when heading ‘home’ for college….challenges faced by most international school kids from around the world. The faculty will be working on a schoo-wide inventory of our wellness programs, and then looking for areas we need to improve.
