Karim Alaa

Karim joined the Board of Trustees in January 2023 as the bp representative and was later reappointed as a board-appointed trustee.

Karim brings more than 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, having held a range of commercial and managerial positions. These include Vice President Commercial & Planning for North Africa; Senior Advisor in the Central Planning and Strategy Team in London; Commercial & Planning Manager for West Nile Delta, East Nile Delta & Exploration; Head of Planning & Performance Management for Egypt; and Country Manager for Egypt. His most recent role at bp was Group Senior Vice President, Joint Ventures and Special Projects.  Before joining bp, he worked for Eni and the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Trade.

Karim has recently transitioned his career into the real estate sector. He holds a BA in Business Administration and an MBA from the American University in Cairo. Karim has one son who attends CAC.
