Nada El Sawy

Nada joined the Board of Trustees in August 2025 as an appointed member. She is the mother of Teymour El Hamamsy, class of 2024, Aly, class of 2027, and Selim, class of 2028. They moved to Cairo from Dubai in July 2020.

Nada is an Egyptian-American journalist with over 25 years of reporting and editing experience in Los Angeles, New York, Dubai, and Cairo. She has contributed to international publications, such as the Financial Times, NYT and Newsweek. She worked as Cairo correspondent for UAE-based newspaper The National and currently freelances for several outlets, including Condé Nast Traveller and Lonely Planet.

Nada holds a bachelor's degree in Communication with minors in Journalism and International Relations from the University of Southern California, as well as a master's degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
