Wail Shaheen

Wail Shaheen serves as the Vice President of bp Egypt, assuming this role in November 2023 after relocating to Cairo from Port of Spain, where he held the position of Vice President of Subsurface in Trinidad & Tobago. 

In his current capacity, Wail leads the Egypt Country Leadership Team and sits on the MENA Business Leadership Team, responsible for delivering bp's strategic objectives and business plans in Egypt. He is also dedicated to fostering future growth opportunities, nurturing key stakeholder relationships, and championing the development of our workforce. 

Wail is a reservoir engineer by background with 30 years of industry experience. He brings a wealth of knowledge and insights from a wide range of technical, commercial, and leadership roles in Canada, Egypt, Indonesia, Italy, Oman, Trinidad & Tobago, and the USA. 

He has played a key role in the development of several major projects, including: Cypre and Mento Sanction in Trinidad and Tobago, together with the start of the small pools development program; Tangguh Train 3 final investment decision in Indonesia; and the Khazzan/Ghazeer project development in the Sultanate of Oman. 

He has also developed and led a strong cadre of BP subsurface team members throughout his career. Wail has extensive experience working with joint ventures around the world to share knowledge, build capabilities, and create opportunities for further growth. 

Wail holds a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering from Cairo University and an MBA from the American University in Cairo.
