ADMISSIONS PRIORITIES

CAC will seek, in line with its mission, to provide an exceptional educational experience by enrolling students from a broad range of nationalities to promote diversity, inclusion, and international-mindedness.

In the event of space constraints, admissions categories and priorities are defined in Policy 8.202 as follows:

Category One:

  • Dependents of expatriate employees who are citizens of the United States with policy-mandated Board appointments.
  • Dependents of expatriate employees of organizations with policy-mandated Board appointments.
  • Applicants who receive tuition as a CAC contractual benefit. [CAC employees are expected to enroll their dependents at the beginning of the academic year. Those who are not enrolled at the beginning of the year will be placed on the waiting list].

Category Two:
Dependents of expatriates.

Category Three:
Qualified siblings of current CAC students.

Category Four:
Qualified children of CAC alumni.

Category Five:
Host country national applicants who have been enrolled in U.S. schools or overseas schools that offer an American or IB curriculum immediately prior to applying to CAC.

Category Six:
All other applicants.

In addition to these priorities, decisions regarding admission of applicants may be based on other factors including, but not limited to, an assessment of the student’s potential to be successful at CAC, contribution to the school’s educational and co-curricular program, and the school’s goal to maintain a cultural balance in the student body as well as the American character of the institution as prescribed by CAC’s mission.
When approaching facility or programmatic limitations, a waiting list for admission will be developed and administered by the Director of Admissions. Only applicants who have fulfilled application requirements are eligible for the waiting list.

Other Policies

Parents & students should be aware of the following policies regarding the school's curricular requirements and guardianship of students:

  • • Cairo American College is a private, secular American school.  All students must satisfy the curricular requirements as outlined in the school's policies.  These include participation in health courses (which include sex education), mixed physical education classes with a swimming component and other specific graduation requirements for secondary school students.
  • • Students admitted to Cairo American College must reside with their parents.  Guardianships, in lieu of residing with parents, must have prior approval of the school.
  • • On a space available basis Cairo American College welcomes students wishing to study at CAC for one semester under the legal guardianship of an individual or family living in Egypt subject to guidelines developed by the Administration. Enrollment in the exchange program is limited to one semester.  If the student wishes to extend the period of study he/she would be treated as a regular admission on a retroactive basis. Exchange students will be required to pay the regular tuition for the semester of attendance plus application fees.
