    Vacancies 2023-24

    Director of Teaching & Learning and IBDP Coordinator
    Primary functions: To provide leadership and coordination in the development and implementation of PK-12 educational program in alignment with CAC Mission, philosophy, Strategic Plan, and accreditation recommendations; to work with staff on curriculum development, delivery, and enrichment; coordinate and lead in-service and staff development activities related to teaching and learning; lead Accreditation process, including monitoring and reporting; support implementation and monitoring of CAC’s Strategic Plan.

    Director of Teaching & Learning/IBDP Coordinator will work closely and in collaboration with Divisional Principals. Divisional Principals are the educational leaders in their divisions; he/she works to assess curricular alignment PreK-12. 

    Director of Teaching & Learning/IBDP Coordinator is responsible for the successful management of the IBDP Diploma program. Serve as liaison between administration, IBDP staff, students, parents, and the IBDP and handle all relevant communication with the different offices.

    • Upper Elementary Grades Teacher
      The successful candidate will ideally have PYP, reader’s and writer’s workshop experience, use well-being practices based on positive education, and restorative practices, and be excited to collaborate, and inquire with colleagues.     MIDDLE SCHOOL

     

    • MS/HS Disruptive Innovation Technology Teacher
      Cairo American College is developing a survey course to offer in grades 7-10, an introduction to disruptive innovation affecting the world. While a bulk of the survey course will focus on financial literacy, critical introductory topics to be covered will include: blockchain, decentralized finance, Web3, metaverse, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, self-driving cars, green energy, genome sequencing, and design thinking. Project-based learning will at times happen in a 'Convergence Lab'. Areas of study taught through application in innovative finance include sources of income, budgeting, banking, consumer credit, spending, taxes, investment strategies, savings accounts, mutual funds, and the stock market. Financial Literacy places great emphasis on problem-solving, reasoning, representing, connecting, and communicating financial data. The successful candidate must enjoy researching and rapidly building a curriculum for this highly future-oriented sequence of courses.

    • MS / Learning Support Services Teacher
      The Learning Support department provides a continuum of differentiated supports and programs based on individual student needs. Students receiving Learning Support may be enrolled in co-taught classes and/or a Learning Support class that focuses on academic, executive functioning, and social-emotional development. This position will require middle school Learning Support Services experience. Experience teaching in diverse co-taught environments across subject areas co-teaching would be beneficial.     HIGH SCHOOL

     

    • HS Design Technology
      CAC is seeking an inventive teacher of Innovation, Design and Engineering with knowledge and experience of STEM related fields and Design Thinking. Through this course, students will develop future-oriented skills such as problem-framing & solving; creativity & imagination; collaboration & communication; critical & flexible thinking, persuasion, and entrepreneurship. This course will be a natural evolution of our current Design Technology program with a focus on preparing students with skills and aptitudes that are highly desirable in current and future workplaces. The appointed candidate would need to design, create, plan and implement the new course in the high school and work collaboratively with the MS teacher to align the curriculum for Grade 6-12.     • HS Social Studies/History IB
      This is a one-year vacancy to fill in for faculty leave. CAC is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and innovative teacher of Social Studies to join our exceptional and diverse team here in Cairo. At CAC we value a student-centered, holistic and inclusive approach to learning and teaching. Our mission statement, Learn, Explore and Have Fun, is a clear indication of our commitment to making the educational experience engaging, exploratory and meaningful for our students. The SS team embraces the Harkness methodology of discussion-based learning and our classrooms are equipped with large Harkness tables for this purpose. The department delivers various subjects within our curriculum, including World Cultures, US History (AP), IB History, Economics, Business and Management, IB Global Politics, and IBDP TOK. This position will require IB History experience specifically but other subjects would be beneficial.

    • HS Physical Sciences
      Science in Grades 9 & 10 is aligned with the AERO standards and in Grades 11 & 12 we offer IB Physics, Chemistry and Biology. In addition, we offer a range of science electives which include Environmental Systems and Astronomy. The purpose-built and well-equipped science labs in our newly renovated HS building take center stage with their location on the ground floor and glass fronts. Dynamic science learning is on display for our community. We are seeking an educator to help our students develop their natural curiosity, problem solving and scientific inquiry skills through working in a highly collaborative team.     • HS English
      Our English curriculum is based on the AERO standards and in Grades 11 & 12 we offer the IBDP English Literature course. In addition we have courses in American and World Literature as well as Creative Writing. The English team works to ensure diverse and inclusive voices are represented through our text selections and task design. The English team embraces the Harkness methodology of discussion-based learning and our classrooms are equipped with large Harkness tables for this purpose. We are seeking an educator to help our students develop their skills in critical thinking, analytical writing and interpretation.     • HS Mathematics 
      The HS math courses are structured around an integrated math framework leading to the IBDP AI SL and AA SL / HL courses in Grades 11 & 12. At CAC we celebrate the beauty of mathematics, inspiring students to make sense of the fascinating elements of content knowledge, while promoting perseverance and intellectual risk taking. Research-based lesson design and effective mathematics teaching practices are embedded in the curriculum through an intentional balance of teacher-directed and inquiry-based approaches. We are seeking an educator who will empower students to solve problems independently and collaboratively while supporting their learning through differentiation, enrichment and guidance as needed.     • HS Drama Teacher
      The Drama and Theatre subject offerings include Theater Making, Theatre Design and Production, and IB DP Theatre. There is also a Film and Video class currently offered as an elective. In addition to the taught classes, there is an annual HS Production that draws a large audience from the entire community. CAC has a large 500+ seat theater and two black box rehearsal/performance spaces as well as many smaller green rooms, costume and props stores, and a fully functioning workshop for set building. We are seeking an innovative drama educator with extensive experience in building and developing theater programs as well as collaborating across the MS and ES divisions. The performing arts, and theater, in particular, has the ability to bring people together to explore their creativity while developing collaboration skills and self-confidence. At CAC we value the positive impact the arts can have on student wellbeing and look forward to enhancing our programs further in the coming years.     • HS PE / Health 
      CAC has a strategic priority to focus on student well-being and the PE / Health courses are viewed as a critical piece of a comprehensive approach to student well-being. All students in Grades 9 and 10. study PE & Health and additionally, we offer electives in the subject as well as a robust swimming and athletics program.       The Visual Arts subject offerings include IB and AP art courses as well as high school studio (2D and 3D) and digital arts.       Cairo American College is seeking a collaborative and innovative teacher of High School Biology and General Science to join our exceptional and diverse team here in Cairo.
