    Vacancies 2024-25

    Director of Operations (COO)

    The Director of Operations holds a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring safety across various aspects of the school, including faculty housing, school busing, campus security, and overall facility management. Reporting directly to the Head of School, you will be entrusted with overseeing facilities management, the in-house motor pool department, the housing department, custodial department, and security operations while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Your strategic mindset and strong analytical skills will be instrumental in promoting the safety and sustainability of the school, aligning with our mission of delivering a high-quality education to our students.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Facilitate the smooth operation and maintenance of the school's facilities by supervising the facilities staff and collaborating with external contractors, when necessary.

    • Demonstrate unwavering commitment and prioritize campus safety as a top concern.

    • Ensure the safety and risk management of faculty housing.

    • Oversee the safety and risk management of student busing.

    • Safeguard the safety and risk management of CAC's campus through effective management of the security department.

    • Stay up to date with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in the education sector to implement necessary changes, ensuring compliance and fostering continuous improvement.

    • Monitor and advance CAC's Sustainability Plan, actively working towards reducing the institution's carbon footprint.

    CAC Facilities
    Spread across eleven acres, our school campus encompasses separate buildings for the elementary, middle, and high schools. In addition to indoor facilities, we provide ample outdoor spaces, including two athletic fields, several playgrounds, an all-weather half-track, a heated swimming pool, and a versatile basketball/volleyball court. The theater facility, with a seating capacity of 550, serves as a hub for our drama and dance programs. To support our MS/HS music programs, we have a dedicated building. Our campus also houses two indoor physical education facilities, complete with gymnasiums, an exercise room, classrooms, and PE offices. To facilitate comprehensive learning and research, we have state-of-the-art libraries in both the middle/high school and the elementary school.  Lastly, we take pride in our newly established Early Intervention Center, which caters to the unique needs of neurodiverse non-CAC students on campus.

    Position Roles & Responsibilities
    The Director of Operations, provides expertise and leadership in various non-instructional areas. This includes overseeing departments such as Facilities, Housing, Motor Pool, Security, Custodial, and Campus Safety, which collectively consist of 5 managers and 150 staff.

      CAC is seeking an experienced elementary psychologist/counselor who is caring, knowledgeable in this field, and collaborative, to join our exceptional and diverse team here in Cairo. At CAC we value a student-centered, holistic, and inclusive approach to learning and teaching. Our mission statement, Learn, Explore, and Have Fun, is a clear indication of a commitment to making the educational experience engaging, exploratory, and meaningful for our students. The successful candidate will have qualifications and experience as an elementary counselor and ideally, a psychology background.  Engaging and collaborating with elementary children, families, faculty, and staff are part of the daily work.  Knowledge of well-being practices based on positive education and restorative practices is used at CAC.     • HS Science & IBDP / AP Biology
      Cairo American College is seeking a collaborative and innovative teacher of High School Science and IBDP Biology to join our exceptional and diverse team here in Cairo. Science in Grades 9 & 10 is aligned with the AERO standards and in Grades 11 & 12 we offer the IB DP Biology course. In addition, we offer Environmental Systems, Astronomy and Conceptual Physics as elective courses for Science. Next year we are exploring adding an AP science class to our course offerings. The purpose-built and well-equipped science labs in our recently fully renovated HS building take center stage with their location on the ground floor and glass classroom walls. Dynamic science learning is on display for our community to see and we are looking for the right educator to help students develop their natural curiosity, problem solving skills and scientific inquiry while working in a highly collaborative team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the IB, AP and teaching experience in an American international school setting.     • HS Mathematics (IB & AP)
      Cairo American College is seeking a collaborative and innovative teacher of High School Mathematics to join our exceptional and diverse team here in Cairo. The HS math courses are structured around an integrated math framework leading to the IBDP AI SL and AA SL / HL courses in Grades 11 & 12. Next year we are exploring adding an AP math class to our course offerings. We celebrate the beauty of mathematics, inspiring students to make sense of the fascinating elements of content knowledge, while promoting perseverance and intellectual risk taking. Research-based lesson design and effective mathematics teaching practices are embedded in the curriculum through an intentional balance of teacher-directed and inquiry-based approaches. We are seeking an educator who will empower students to solve problems independently and collaboratively while supporting their learning through differentiation, enrichment and instruction as needed. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the IB, AP and teaching experience in an American international school setting.     • HS English (IB & AP)
      Our English curriculum is based on the AERO standards and in Grades 11 & 12 we offer the IBDP English Literature course. In addition we have courses in American and World Literature as well as Creative Writing. Next year we are exploring adding an AP English class to our course offerings. The English team works to ensure diverse and inclusive voices are represented through our text selections and task design. The English team embraces the Harkness methodology of discussion-based learning and our classrooms are equipped with large Harkness tables for this purpose. We are seeking an educator to help our students develop their skills in critical thinking, analytical writing and interpretation as well as a passion for reading. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the IB, AP and teaching experience in an American international school setting. Knowledge of AERO standards and the US education and assessment system will also be beneficial.
